Aluminium Sliding Window Profiles: Frame, Sash and Track Guide

Two aluminium window sections can look almost identical in a photograph and still fail to fit the same assembly. The roller pocket, glazing detail, seal groove or interlock may be different. A useful search for aluminium sliding window profiles therefore starts with the window system and its matching components.
This guide explains the common section names and the information a fabricator needs before ordering. Omalco's door and window profile range provides a starting point for aluminium window frame sections, sliding-window enquiries and drawing-led custom requirements in India.
At a glance
- Specify matching frame, sash, track and accessory sections by system reference or approved drawing.
- Check glass, rollers, seals and locks alongside the aluminium profiles they connect to.
- Keep section quantities, finish references and cut lengths visible in the order schedule.
Which aluminium profiles make up a sliding window?
The fixed outer frame, moving sash and meeting sections perform different jobs. Names vary between catalogues, so use the supplier's section codes and an assembly reference together. The table below explains common terms; the approved system drawing determines the actual combination for your opening.
Before requesting a replacement section, photograph the end of the existing profile and record its dimensions. Include the mating section where possible. A side view of a finished window can establish the application, but the cross-section and system reference help identify the part that must be supplied.
| Profile or component | Role in the assembly | Useful enquiry reference |
|---|---|---|
| Outer frame | Fixed perimeter around the opening | Frame section code and assembly drawing |
| Sash or shutter section | Perimeter of the moving panel | Matching sash, glazing and roller details |
| Track | Running path within the sliding system | Track arrangement and compatible roller |
| Interlock or meeting section | Interface between adjacent panels | Matching pair and seal detail |
| Glazing bead | Part of the glass-retention arrangement | Bead, glass and gasket combination |
Coordinate glass and hardware with the window profiles
A profile enquiry becomes more precise when it includes the glass and hardware assumptions. Identify the glazing arrangement, roller reference, seal type and lock interface specified by the window system. Ask which sections belong to that combination rather than choosing each item independently from a catalogue image.
For example, a fabricator may have an approved outer frame but an undecided sash and roller combination. Record that open point before ordering long lengths. Reviewing the mating components together gives the team a chance to resolve the interface while the section schedule is still being prepared.
Specify alloy, temper and finish for architectural sections
6063 is a common alloy considered for architectural aluminium profiles, including window and door frames. Hydro's alloy overview describes its extrusion and anodizing characteristics. The final enquiry still needs the specified temper, dimensions and supplied condition for the particular section and system.
Add the finish reference, visible faces and appearance-approval route to the drawing. A profile that meets a dimensional check may still need a separate finish review. Where material will be ordered in phases, retain the accepted sample reference so the appearance discussion has a consistent starting point.
Turn the opening schedule into an aluminium profile order
List each section separately, including its code, drawing revision, cut length, quantity and finish. Keep the fixed and moving members distinguishable. If your workshop will cut commercial lengths into fabrication parts, state that supply condition and use the fabrication plan to determine the order quantities.
A window count alone leaves many details open. A two-panel opening and a different track arrangement can require different section combinations. Link the order to the approved assembly schedule, then check that the quantities include the intended meeting sections, beads and other aluminium members.
- Opening or system reference, with the current assembly drawing.
- One line per aluminium section, with length, quantity and finish.
- Glass, seal and hardware references that control profile compatibility.
- Sample approval, packing, labels and the delivery location.
Review a representative assembly before repeat supply
Agree what the first sample review needs to demonstrate. This can include the fit between sections, hardware interfaces and the specified finished appearance. Keep the acceptance reference connected to the drawing and purchase order so repeat enquiries identify the same requirement.
The project or system specification determines any required window-performance evaluation. Section dimensions and a finish sample are individual checks within that wider process. Give the extrusion manufacturer the approved section requirement and the inspection records needed for its supply scope.
Send a sliding-window profile enquiry to Omalco
If you are looking for an aluminium window profile manufacturer in India, send Omalco the system reference or dimensioned section drawing first. Include the section schedule, quantities, specified alloy and temper, finish and delivery location. Identify any mating part that the supplied profile must accept.
Omalco manufactures aluminium profiles from its Behror, Rajasthan base. Its door and window catalogue and custom extrusion route help buyers move from a general sliding-window requirement to a defined section enquiry. Ask for the proposed profile and processing scope to be stated against your references.
Frequently asked questions
Can I mix aluminium sliding window profiles from different systems?
Check the complete assembly before combining sections. Similar dimensions or appearance do not establish compatibility with the sash, seals, rollers and locking details. Use the approved system drawing or obtain the required interface review.
What details are needed for an aluminium window frame quotation?
Provide the section codes or drawings, system reference, cut lengths, quantities, material and finish requirements, relevant hardware interfaces and delivery location. Explain whether you need extrusion lengths or parts with further processing.
Does Omalco supply complete installed windows?
This guide concerns aluminium profiles and extrusion enquiries. Ask Omalco to confirm the exact catalogue, cutting, finishing or other processing scope in its offer. The complete window assembly and installation scope should be identified separately in the project enquiry.
